The rules.

How to play

  1. 1

    Choose your bids

Before you see the question, pick 1, 2 or 3 bids. Fewer bids, more points: up to 2,000, 1,600 or 1,400. More bids buy hints.

  2. 2

    Bid under the answer

Each question hides a number. Bid a number you think is lower. Under? It holds. Over? Round lost.

  3. 3

    Bank or raise

Bank to keep the points, or Raise to bid higher. Each bid must beat your last. The closer you stop to the answer, the more you get.

  4. 4

    Over is zero

One bid above the answer and the round pays nothing. The answer shows when the round ends.

Scoring

A round pays up to 2,000, 1,600 or 1,400 by the bids you chose, times (bid ÷ answer)1.5. Stopping early is safe, but it pays less. Pushing is where the points are.

FAQ

Why can't I see how close I am?

Because that is the game. A surviving bid only tells you the answer is higher. The one exception is a hint, which a second or third bid can buy. Every raise is still a real decision.

What does "over 100" mean?

The floor. The answer is guaranteed to be at or above it, so a bid at the floor would be a free score. That is why your first bid has to be above it.

Why choose the number of bids first?

You declare before you see the question, knowing only the category. One bid plays for up to 2,000 but gives you no information. Three bids let you feel your way up, with a hint after each of the first two bids that hold, for up to 1,400.

What does a second or third bid buy?

A hint. After each bid that holds with a raise left, you get one: a figure from the question's workings, or whether the answer is at most double your bid.

What happens on an exact hit?

Dead on. The round ends immediately with the full 2,000, 1,600 or 1,400 your bids allowed. There is nothing left to climb.

Can I play more than once a day?

No. Daily is five questions, the same for everyone, once a day. Once you have seen an answer you cannot bid against it honestly, so replaying it would only be a way to lie to yourself. When you are done you can review what you did, and the next five arrive at midnight UTC.

Where do the answers come from?

Every question has a named source, shown when the round ends. If you think an answer is wrong, the source is where to check.

How do I challenge a friend?

Open Match, start a challenge, play your run, then send the link. They play the same questions blind, and your climb is drawn next to theirs after each round they resolve. Live rooms, where everyone plays at once, come later.
